My Bio

I am an award-winning food writer, restaurant critic, and blogger based in the Princeton, NJ area. I contribute regularly to New Jersey Monthly and Edible Jersey magazines, pen two monthly columns for The Princeton Echo, and write often for U.S. 1 – both newspapers of Community News Service.

My byline has appeared in The New York Times, The Star-Ledger, The Princeton Packet, and The Times of Trenton, as well as Food Network and South Jersey magazines. For many years I edited the Zagat NJ Survey.

For six years I was the host of “Dining Today,” a live, weekly radio show on food and dining that was broadcast over WHWH (AM 1350) Princeton. Among the many celebrities I have interviewed are Alice Waters, Frank Bruni, Jacques Pepin, Lidia Bastianich, Marcella Hazan, Tom Colicchio, Rick Bayless, Pierre Herme, Mark Bittman, Emeril Lagasse, Maricel Presilla, Craig Shelton, and two governors of New Jersey.

A former caterer and corporate trainer, I co-founded the Central Jersey Chapter of Slow Food. I have volunteered for Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation, the American Heart Association’s Chefs With Heart, AIA’s Canstruction, and the Hospitality, Restaurant, and Travel Academy at Trenton Central High School.

I was born and raised in Newark, NJ – the sixth of seven children in a food-obsessed Italian-American family. (I recognize that “food obsessed” and “Italian American” are pretty much redundant.)
